 Mercedes Mega Deal!

Global Self Drive have committed to a vehicle deal with Mercedes Benz UK worth in excess of £7.3million.

Throughout the coming months Global Self Drive will be taking delivery of over 350 Mercedes commercial vehicles including the Vito range and the ever popular Sprinter in both long and extra-long wheelbase format.

Global have run a selection of Mercedes vans in the past however this has only been in limited numbers, with vehicles usually ordered only to fulfill specific customer requests. This latest development looks set to make Mercedes Benz UK, one of Global Self Drive’s largest suppliers of commercial vehicles!

Global Self Drive’s Group Managing Director, Chris Webb, was enthusiastic about the Mercedes deal, commenting “the addition of another prestige supplier, such as Mercedes Benz, to our expanding fleet of vehicles is excellent news for Global Self Drive and our customers”.
Chris added “Mercedes Benz have a well earned reputation for producing reliable, modern and fuel efficient vehicles, all areas which are important to our customers”. “Past dealing with Mercedes have also proved they have the service and staff to back up their product”.

Global Self Drive will still have firm ties with suppliers such as Renault, Volkswagen, Citroën and MAN, but the addition of Mercedes to the list of suppliers is significant. Mr. Webb added “Committing to an investment of this size doesn’t come without extensive research, research which has confirmed that Mercedes Benz vehicles will play a significant roll in Global Self Drives continued expansion”.

Global website gets a makeover

It's amazing to think that is has been 2-years since the 'new look' Global Self Drive website was launched and it continues to be a booming success with the number of weekly on-line bookings still on the up.

In May 2006 alone, over 260 customers contacted us directly throught our website or used the site to book vehicles.

The site is still as functional and easy to use as it has always been, but now with a fresh new look.

When Doug Haines, a regular hirer, needed a vehicle for his water-ski charity, Global Self Drive were only too pleased to help.

The British Disabled Water-Ski Association has successfully been teaching disabled people to water-ski in Essex for the past 3 years.

Whilst they have the powerboat and the skiing equipment, they were in need of a new van, Global Self Drive have supplied a brand new Extra Long Wheelbase Iveco panel van kitted out with tow bar, twin electrics and a very tasty sticker job.

James Russell-Grant, of Global Self Drive, who helped arrange the vehicle for the BDWSA, commented “It’s amazing, there really is no disability that can prevent you from learning to water-ski, and with Doug’s enthusiasm I would challenge anyone to prove him wrong”.

The New Maxus Arrives At Global!

The New Maxus makes LDV a serious competitor!

Global Self Drive have never been afraid to 'dip their toes' in the water and invest in new vehicles, and with the release of the new LDV Maxus range fast approaching, it was time to take the bull by the horns and place an order.

Previously LDV vehicles have had a reputation for being rugged, well priced workhorses, if a little basic. Ever since the last upgrade of the Convoy range to make use of the new Transit Engine & Gearbox, LDV vans have offered a reliable alternative to many more expensive models.

The new Maxus range promises to keep the rock solid reliability of the Convoy, but include levels of driver comfort, safety and style only previously found in top end Volkswagen & Mercedes vehicles.

When reporter, Jeremy Bennett, used the Global Self Drive website to book a vehicle he was so impressed that he penned a report of his experience for the latest edition of Fleet News Magazine.

The report praises the use of technology, ease of use and very informative content found on the website, Mr. Bennett writes "the booking process was a prime example of how maximizing the potential of the internet does not mean you cut out the personal touch" and follows on "it demonstrated how the internet can boost customer service, not dominate it"
